‘Boko Haram Are Planning To Attack Abuja’- Arrested Fighters Reveal

A middle-aged man suspected to be one of the fleeing
fighters of the Boko Haram sect has been arrested by
officials of a security agency recently established by the
Abuja Municipal Area Council popularly known as AMAC
Marshal in the Federal Capital Territory.
A statement issued on Tuesday night by the spokesman for
the AMAC Marshal, Kingsley Madaki, said the suspect who
gave his name as Usman, was nabbed at 4.30pm at Utako
Market.

According to him, the suspect was apprehended “with a
Qur’an and a chaplet on his neck while trying to lobby
people in the market.”
The statement said the suspected Boko Haram fighter had,
however, “confessed that there are so many of his
colleagues out there in the city who are out to unleash
mayhem on innocent residents.”
While calling on the residents of the FCT to be vigilant and
report any suspicious movement to AMAC Marshal
personnel, Madaki said the organisation was out to ensure
the safety of properties and lives of the residents.
While handing over the suspect to the Nigerian Army at the
Mabila Barracks, the Marshal-General of AMAC Marshal,
Kasim Chicha, said the organisation was out to assist the
conventional security agencies in the council.
He, therefore, called on the residents to be careful and be
alert at every point in time, adding that AMAC would always
do everything to protect residents.
Chicha commended the effort of the council Chairman,
Abdullahi Candido, for creating the security outfit for the
security of the council.

The PUNCH reported that the Nigerian Army had invaded
Camp Zero, the last Boko Haram’s stronghold in Sambisa
Forest to flush out the insurgents.
This led the terrorists to flee the area and one of the
suspected member of the sect was arrested in Lagos last
Thursday.

Barca unimaginable without Messi - Villa

David Villa is confident Lionel Messi will sign a new contract with Barcelona as he cannot imagine the Spanish champions without the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Messi is out of contract in 2018 and the 29-year-old is yet to agree a contract renewal as speculation mounts over his future.

Former Barca team-mate and Spain's all-time leading goalscorer Villa - now captain of New York City in MLS - believes Messi's future will be decided soon.

"I think it will happen [a renewal] in the future, sooner or later," Villa said.

"Barcelona love Messi and Messi loves Barca, anything else we can't imagine."

As for this year's Ballon d'Or, which was won by Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo, Villa said there should have only been one victor.

Despite leading Barca to last season's LaLiga title, Messi was unable to stop Ronaldo from capturing the 2016 France Football prize for a fourth time.

"I think it is a difficult vote to evaluate," Villa continued.

"Sometimes, personal performance is counted over others because of the displays of the team. That happened this year and has happened in many others."

Ladies, Here Are 5 Things You Should Never Tell Anyone About Your Man

1. THINGS YOU DISLIKE ABOUT HIM:  Women have a tendency that, no matter how in love they are, they can always pick *and pick and pick* a habit that they don’t like about their man, and roll with it on a rant to their close friends. If you’re telling your friends about every single fight, misgiving, trust issue, name-call, or drunken spat you’ve had with your man, then odds are they’re not going to end up liking the guy too much. Remember that while you deal with the rough stuff in a relationship, you also get to experience all the wonderful, little things about it that make that rough stuff irrelevant. Your friends don’t. When all they hear are complaints and fights you’re having with your man, they’re going to start to wonder why you’re with him at all.

2. HIS FAMILY DRAMA: Family drama should be kept to yourself, especially when you’re talking about someone else’s! If your man has shared shameful family secrets with you, show respect and keep your lips zipped on the matter. Remember that, while they’re not your family, your mate shared these details with you for a reason. If the story is particularly juicy, scandalous, or a sore, hurtful subject, then you have all the more reason not to blab about it to your friends.

3. HIS PEN!S SIZE: This should be obvious, and no matter how much you may want to brag *or cry* about the subject, trust us that’s it a no-go when it comes to the size of his junk.

4. HOW GOOD HE IS IN BED: Right along with the size of his Johnson, his fabulous skills in the sack should probably be kept to yourself. Yes, he does that amazing thing with his tongue and knows all the right moves and all the right places, but beware that while you’re sharing your blissful bedded experience, your girlfriends may just be wondering how they could have a similar experience. While there are many girls who would never backstab a bestie, never say it’d never happen to you. Too many trusting girls have shared their sexy deets about their talented lover, only to have their closest gal-pals try to get in on the action

5. HOW BAD HE IS IN BED: While you may want a shoulder to cry on about exactly how lost your man seems to be between the sheets, you might want to hold back on this one. Are you planning on keeping him around? If so, best keep his pride safe, and forgo telling all your friends how you’ve become one of those women faking a headache just to get out of sex. You know, at least until you’re done with him.

BREAKING NEWS: Swansea part company with Bradley

Struggling Swansea City have parted company with Bob Bradley less than three months after he was appointed, the club have confirmed.

The American was chosen as Francesco Guidolin's successor on October 3, but the Swans won just two of the 11 Premier League matches he oversaw and are lying 19th in the table.

A dismal 4-1 home defeat at the hands of West Ham on Monday proved to be Bradley's last game in charge, with Swansea confirming his dismissal on Tuesday.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We are sorry to lose Bob after such a short period of time.

"Unfortunately things haven't worked out as planned and we felt we had to make the change with half the Premier League season remaining.

"With the club going through such a tough time, we have to try and find the answers to get ourselves out of trouble.

"Personally, I have nothing but praise for Bob. He is a good man; a good person who gave everything to the job. His work-rate is phenomenal and we wish him well for the future."

Sri Lanka cede initiative in Port Elizabeth

South Africa gained the upper hand in the first Test at St George's Park as Sri Lanka failed to capitalise on an impressive bowling performance.

Having slumped from 104 without loss to 267-6 on Monday, the Proteas added just 19 runs to their total at the start of day two, Suranga Lakmal (5-63) completing his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests.

However, Sri Lanka could only muster 181-7 in reply to South Africa's 286 all out, with Vernon Philander (3-35) and Kyle Abbott (2-49) a constant threat.

The tourists' score at the close, which was brought forward by bad light, actually represented something of a recovery after they had taken tea on 104-5 and lost Dinesh Chandimal (28) early in the evening.

While Philander and Abbott bowled with typical accuracy, many of Sri Lanka's batsmen were guilty of giving their wickets away through loose strokeplay, and much is now likely to depend on Dhananjaya de Silva, who reached stumps unbeaten on 43.

Tuesday began encouragingly for Angelo Mathews' men as the hosts' first innings was brought to a swift end.

Philander (13) was caught at deep square-leg off Nuwan Pradeep (2-66) in the fifth over of the morning, having been dropped on 11, and Lakmal - the star of the opening day - claimed his fifth scalp by having Keshav Maharaj caught behind before Abbott was needlessly run out.

Pradeep finished things off in style, cleaning up Quinton de Kock (37) with an inswinging yorker, but Sri Lanka were soon struggling in reply.

A full delivery from Abbott forced Dimuth Karunaratne (5) to play on, while Kusal Perera (7) was caught behind aiming a loose cut at Philander.

Kusal Mendis soon followed for a duck, wicketkeeper De Kock taking a fine catch to his right off Abbott, and the score read 61-4 when Kaushal Silva (16) was plumb lbw to a nip-backer from Philander, who had set the opener up with a succession of outswingers.

Two South African reviews were wasted on Mathews, but Sri Lanka's captain - hit on the right elbow by Philander early in his innings - eventually edged Kagiso Rabada to third slip to fall for 39.

Having looked all at sea against Abbott after tea, Chandimal was then lbw to Philander, having been lucky to escape a similar verdict on four and dropped by De Kock on 17.

From 121-6, Sri Lanka rallied through Dhananjaya and Herath, who scored exclusively through the leg side. However, the veteran spinner departed for 24 when he missed an attempted reverse-sweep off Maharaj.

2019 POLLS: IGBO WILL NOT VOTE FOR POLITICIANS NOT IN SUPPORT OF NIGERIA'S RESTRUCTURING - GROUP

group, Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA), has called for urgent political and economic re-structuring of Nigeria to tackle the challenges facing the country.

The Leader of ECA, Chief Maria Okwor, made the call in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Enugu.

Okwor said that his group would campaign against any political party, group or individual who failed to support re-structuring of the country.

“The entire Igbo land will not cast its votes for any politician who is not in support of restructuring Nigeria, be it for state and national legislative elections or for governorship and presidential elections.

“Our people will only vote for freedom from eternal slavery henceforth,” she said.

Okwor said that the present call for re-structuring of the country has divine backing.

“This new call to free ourselves from slavery through political consciousness is not articulated by man; this is God-ordained.

“God Almighty, in His own time, allows people to know that only they themselves alone can free themselves.

“We have been held down for so long,’’ Okwor said.

APC SPOKESMAN THREATENS TO SUE ONDO COMMISSIONER OF INFORMATION FOR DEFAMATION

Mr Abayomi Adesanya, the Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, on Tuesday threatened to take legal action against the State Commissioner of Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, for defaming his character.

Adesanya, who addressed journalists in Akure, said he would take the legal action against Akinmade for describing him as someone who needed “psychiatric attention”.

Adesanya said Akinmade, had in some national dailies on Dec. 16, described him as someone who needed “psychiatric attention’’ while reacting to a statement entitled “Mimiko Secretly Recruiting 10,000 Workers, Selling Government Properties To Cronies — APC Alleges.’’

He described Akinmade’s attack as unacceptable and unwarranted.

“It is on record that each time an issue is raised by the opposition, especially the All Progressives Congress, on matters or issues with direct consequence on the good people of Ondo State, Akinmade will rather abuse me (Adesanya), calling me unprintable names, rather than addressing the issue(s) raised or give a rebuttal for the general public.

“You will recall that I issued a statement on Dec.10, 2016 titled “Paris Club Gives Mimiko N6.8 Billion to Pay Pensioners’ Workers.

“In a swift reaction, the Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, described the statement as baseless and unfounded and advised the APC stakeholders to contact the Federal Ministry of Finance for verification of their ‘frivolous’ allegation.

“However, three days later, Dec. 13, 2016, same Kayode Akinmade issued a statement which suggested that Ondo State Government had collected the sum of N6.5 billion from Paris Club to pay pensioners and workers.

“Furthermore, I issued a statement titled “Mimiko Secretly Recruiting 10,000 Workers, Selling Government Properties To Cronies — APC Alleges’’ on Dec.16, 2016.

“In his usual way, the Commissioner for Information on Dec. 16, 2016, insulted my personality by calling me a “psychiatrist patient’’; this was reported in various dailies nationwide.

“I consider Akinmade’s statement as untoward, derogatory, disparaging and a direct attack on me and my office.

“This has really caused untold embarrassment to me and my family,’’ he said.

The APC spokesman said that he was demanding a public apology from Akinmade within seven days.

“I hereby, demand a public apology within seven days from Mr Kayode Akinmade, the Commissioner for Information in Ondo State, for calling me (Adesanya) a “psychiatric patient” or face libelous action,’’ he said.

Premier League!! Leicester City 0-2 Everton (RESULT)

  • Kevin Mirallas scored his third goal in as many matches against Leicester as Everton secured their first away win since September.

The Belgium winger capitalised on a lapse in concentration in the Leicester defence when he latched on to a long ball from goalkeeper Joel Robles, and struck a low shot into the corner of the net.
Daniel Amartey, Leonardo Ulloa and Demarai Gray all brought saves out of Robles but Everton added a second goal in injury time.

A long ball from Ross Barkley found Romelu Lukaku, who showed great strength before firing the ball past Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal.
Everton’s victory was their first on the road since a 3-0 win at Sunderland on 12 September

Photos: Couple married for 63 years die hours apart holding hands in the same hospital room

Dolores & Trent Winstead were married for nearly 64 years. Brought together by fate, the Tennessee couple couldn't stand to be apart.
Trent, 88, was first admitted to a Nashville, Tennessee hospital on December 5 with kidney failure. His wife Dolores, 83, accompanied him to the hospital but suffered a fatal brain hemorrhage while there.

"Trent died of a broken heart" hours after his wife died, his daughter Sheryl told the Washington Post.

"Christmas used to be both of their favorite time of the year," their son, Eddie Winstead, told WKRN.

Trent and Dolores met back in the 50s in Dickson County, Tennessee, shortly before Trent left to serve in the Korean War and they wrote long letters to each other throughout his service. Trent proposed to Dolores almost immediately after returning and together they had two children, three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

"In order to not get a no, I guess, he waits until she's brushing her teeth to ask her to marry him," Winstead said.

The two made a perfect pair, with quiet Dolores stocking her shelves with countless cookbooks and the ever-outgoing Trent, spending days on the lake and months serving in Korea.

"They were opposites from each other, and I think that's what made them click," said Sheryl Winstead.

The two spent their golden years, in West Nashville until a few weeks back, went Trent fell ill.

"They said that his kidneys were failing, and they needed to get him stabilized," their son said. Dolores stood by his side as long as she could at the hospital.

"She starts having a really bad headache. She was having a brain aneurysm," their son said. "Both of them ended up in the same hospital room. From that point, she lasted about two days."

According to WKRN, Dolores was placed in a separate hospital room from her husband when she required a ventilator to keep breathing after the hemorrhage. The separation made Trent too anxious, so hospital staff broke protocol and eventually rolled her into his room so they could be together as her condition worsened.

The 63-year marriage finished weeks before anniversary 64. Eddie was tasked with breaking the news to his dad.

"I had to lean down next to him, and just kind of tell him, 'Dad, Mom has passed,'" he said. "It's kind of like his whole spirit, just changed. I told him, I said, 'Dad, if you want to go be with Mom, that's quite alright with Sheryl and I.'"

Trent would join Dolores hours later. The two who were married for decades were apart less than a day.

"A real life love story, come together right there at the end. It blows me away when I think of it," their son said.

For the Winsteads, Christmas this year will be a somber celebration. Poring through old photos, telling well-worn stories, and remembering a marriage, that will last long beyond the winter.

"It's like God made their travel arrangements and they went together, it's just really sweet," Sheryl Winstead said.

The family held a joint funeral for the Winsteads on December 16: her casket pink, his blue.

Premier League!! Arsenal 1-0 West Brom (RESULT)

  • Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud struck a late winner as the Gunners ended a run of two Premier League defeats with victory over a stubborn West Brom.

Giroud was making his first league start of the season and looped in an 86th minute header from a Mesut Ozil cross for his goal.

Until that moment the Gunners had enjoyed nearly 80% possession, but had struggled to find a way past inspired Baggies keeper Ben Foster.
He pulled off a number of key stops, including a double save when he parried an Alex Iwobi shot and blocked the rebound at the feet of Alexis Sanchez.
The 33-year-old former England keeper also tipped over a fizzing shot from Sanchez before West Brom nearly snatched a goal, with Claudio Yacob skying his shot over the bar after Arsenal keeper Petr Cech dropped a corner.
But Giroud finally broke the deadlock to keep Arsenal nine points behind leaders Chelsea, who beat Bournemouth.

Premier League!! Chelsea 3-0 Bournemouth

  • Chelsea moved nine points clear at the top of the table by beating Bournemouth to set a club record of 12 straight Premier League wins.

Cesc Fabregas set up Pedro to break the deadlock with a deflected shot that looped into the top corner.

Eden Hazard capped an impressive display by making it 2-0 from the spot after he was brought down by Simon Francis.
Pedro added a third goal deep in injury time when his shot hit Steve Cook and the ball span over the line.
Bournemouth’s best chance saw substitute Benik Afobe denied by Thibaut Courtois but the Cherries ended up well beaten.
Manchester City can reduce Chelsea’s lead to seven points if they beat Hull later on Boxing Day.

Premier League!! Manchester United 3-1 Sunderland (RESULT)

Manchester United recorded their fourth successive Premier League win with a dominant performance against a Sunderland side which has been pushed further from safety.

United deserved the victory – enjoying 63% of possession and having a total of 23 shots on goal – but only a first-half Daley Blind effort separated the teams until the final 10 minutes.
The Dutchman was put through by a delightful Zlatan Ibrahimovic pass and fired low into the bottom-right corner for his first goal of the season before United doubled their advantage with Paul Pogba setting up Ibrahimovic with eight minutes remaining.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan added gloss to the scoreline with a brilliant backheeled effort, though replays suggested the Armenian was offside.
It is a victory which draws United level with fifth-placed Tottenham, although the north Londoners have a game in hand, playing Southampton on Wednesday.
Fabio Borini scored a late consolation for Sunderland, but defeat – their third in four games – leaves the Black Cats two points adrift of safety.

‘Why David Moyes Failed At United’- Jose Mourinho Reveals

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has said David Moyes did not succeed at the club because he took over just as the Premier League was becoming ultra-competitive.

Mourinho, who turned down the chance to replace Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, said the Scot had a difficult task on his hands at United.

Moyes returns to Old Trafford on Boxing Day for the first time, since he was sacked by United in April 2014, after only 10 months in charge.

Mourinho, however, said Moyes inherited a decent squad from his compatriot.

“I wouldn’t mind to be at a club with great expectations, but to have Ryan Giggs and ‘Chicharito’ [Javier Hernandez] and [Nemanja] Vidic still in the team, [Patrice] Evra too… I wouldn’t mind,” Mourinho said.

“I don’t feel it [United’s expectation] as a burden. I feel the great history of the club as only a positive thing and not a negative thing. The problem is whether you have the conditions to follow that success of history. If not, then that’s a different story.

“There are generations and in a certain period, when David came, the situation was not so easy to go in that winning direction. At the same time — I think this is even more important — the Premier League was changing.

“Periods of domination now belong to the past because the Premier League was going already in an incredible direction and it is what it is now”, he added.
