President Buhari Resubmits List of 46 Non-career Ambassadorial Nominees To Senate



President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday resubmitted the list of 46 non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for approval. The revised list followed the upper chamber’s rejection of the earlier ambassadorial list in November 2015. Explaining the rationale behind the rejection, Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Monsurat Sunmonu, informed her colleagues that the Committee received over 250 petitions against the nominees.
Former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Paulen Tallen and former member of the House of Representatives, Usman Bugaje were the first to reject their nominations, citing failure to duly consult them.
In a letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki at Thursday plenary, President Buhari called for expeditious approval of the request.
Notably absent on the new list is a former lawmaker Olorunimbe Mamora (Lagos State), while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which was not represented in the old list, now has a nominee.

Yusuf Maitama-Tuga (Bauchi),
Baba Madugu (Bauchi),
Stanley Dereye (Bayelsa),
Stephen Ugba (Benue),
Baba Ahmed Jiga (Borno),
Eniola Ajaiye (Ekiti),
Chris Eze (Enugu),
Suleiman Hassan (Gombe),
Nurudeen Mohammed (Kwara),
Mohammed Isa (Kwara) George Adesola Omotade (Lagos),
Modupe Irele (Lagos) Ibrahim Ugbada (FCT) ……………. amongst others.
