The story picks up several months after Carrie had diverted a terrorist attack in Berlin. Played by the amazing Claire Danes, she is now working with an organization that assists Muslims residing in the United States.
While defending a young man accused of being a terrorist, Carrie states: “This whole country went crazy after 9/11 and no one knows that better than I do.” We also see the face of the President of the United States, played by Elizabeth Marvel (Fargo, House of Cards).
At the time when Season 6 was being written, the authors likely thought they were sticking close to current events, expecting Hillary Clinton to be elected this year.
This new season also welcomes actors Robert Knepper and Dominic Fumusa (Nurse Jackie) into the fold. The end of the 3-minute trailer focuses in on the return of Quinn (Rupert Friend), since the end of Season 5 left us in suspense. In the trailer, we hear him ask: “What happened to me?”
Homeland Season 6 comes to Showtime on January 15.
